Ten Things of Thankful - I'm No Fun Anymore I am Sorry

Ten Things of Thankful
I'm no fun anymore
I am sorry

It's getting to the point where I'm no fun anymore
I am sorry
Sometimes it hurts so badly I must cry out loud
I am lonely
I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are
You make it hard
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes by Crosby Stills & Nash

Yes that is me – I’m no fun anymore – seriously, I see it and feel it; the problem is  I can’t switch gears anymore – therefore I am thankful that I figured that out, I’ll let it go – and will let it all go from now on.   Life is too short for me not to make everyone that counts smile and laugh.

Yesterday we did nothing – I did not go food shopping or clean the house – James went over a friend’s house- so it was Amelia and me – we had lunch, finished the butter pecan ice cream right out of the container, all while watching a movie - We watched the movie Belle – a nice mother and daughter movie.  We both needed it.

PG 1h 45m - Drama
This film is inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle, the illegitimate mixed race daughter of Admiral Sir John Lindsay. Raised by her aristocratic great-uncle Lord Mansfield
Release date: May 2, 2014 (USA)
Director: Amma Asante
Initial DVD release: August 26, 2014 (USA)

Amelia has all of her teachers in place to visit her while she is recovering. Because she is not able to go to school she is eligible for home tutoring  - a teacher comes to our home every day for about an hour or an  hour and ½, twice a week she gets speech for 30 minutes, and she also has an ESL teacher visiting her once a week.

I explained to Amelia that this is an actual opportunity; she is receiving so much attention academically, without any distractions, that she should take advantage of it. I’m thankful that I can see this and point it out to her.

It was meet the teachers’ night at school last week, and although I was a tad upset with Amelia’s actual teacher, I am Thankful I went because for so many years I have been advocating for my daughter to get what she needs to excel. After the visit, I know exactly what Amelia’s additional needs are and that will be communicated by letter soon.

I am Thankful that my husband helps me with the dirty dishes after dinner every night.

Last week was also meet the teachers at the middle school- we had to actually walk James’s schedule on a certain day – I love all his teachers, they are wonderful; they love and are passionate of the subject they teach – he will be learning American History, the Periodic Table , Italian  and music – James with all their exuberance you cannot fail.

His English teacher made me cry – she is a bubbly, fast-talking, non-coffee drinker, gives parents chocolates after she makes them cry teacher – because in a folder marked James was this:

Thank you James

I had my first pumpkin ale for the season!

Happy Birthday to Jack – you are awesome and I love you!

We celebrated Jack’s Birthday last week; tomorrow is Mimi’s (on the right) Birthday too- Happy Birthday – thank you for helping out watching Amelia.

What are you Thankful for?

  1. You are so so soooo right! Life is far too short to not make everyone who counts laugh and smile. Don't definitely count!

    1. Yes the ones that count - thank you for reminding me that I am also in that group -

  2. You have such a wonderful list of thankfuls, but by far, your husband helping you with the dishes every night is GOLDEN!

    1. Isn't it though he does help while I cook - offers to put the dishes in the dishwasher - we make a good team I cook, he loads the dishwasher, I scrub the rest - hey its gotta get done right.
years ago when I first got a dishwasher he told I have no idea how to load the dishes in it - something to do with the jets hitting the dishes.... I looked at him and agreed,

  3. Make sure you include yourself in making people laugh and smile!

What a great poem James wrote!

    1. Thank you for the reminder - that poem made me cry-happy it was a nice surprise!

  4. September was such a busy month - I am sadly so far behind in reading blog posts, and I'm hoping to get caught up with my favorite bloggers today!
I wasn't even aware that your daughter was having surgery. I am glad she is recovering, and that her teachers are helping her to keep up with schoolwork. Sharing ice-cream out of a container with her mom while watching a movie is sure to be a favorite memory!
Love all the other photos you shared. Your son's poem shows promise as a writer - and a well-grounded family life. You say you are no fun anymore, but your blog is still fun to visit. Happy weekend Marisa!

  5. What a wonderful piece by your son - it would have made me cry too! Not a big pumpkin ale fan, but pumpkin flavored coffee? Mmmmmm.

Now its your turn, let it all out it feels good .....tell me how you feel! Love to hear from you, I love comments ...they are the best part!
